Damn tough call. I love Jon's simplicity, engaging chord progression, clean sound overall and meaningful lyrics. I like umm's rock, but the echo/reverb thing seems a little thick for my taste. That's an impressive instrumentation for 125 minutes. I'm not into the yelling part of the chorus but I like the breakdown.

Tough call, guys, very tough. You both bring significant awesomeness to the table. I will have to think on this and listen more before rendering my final judgement.

Ultimately, I'm going with Jon's song for the vote. Umm's seemed a little formulaic, and I wasn't super into the thick delay/reverb and screamy vocals. You both produced absolutely amazing songs in the timeframe, and I would buy the album with either of these songs without hesitation.

Great work, gentlemen. I look forward to the next Frenzy!

I think Reist may have overdone the vocal reverb. I very nearly did the same thing, myself. Dialed it back a notch at the last minute.

It's now about five and a half hours after finishing, I admit, I have trouble remembering how mine goes. Man, I need to write down my chords for posterity; I'm not sure I'll remember that progression in the morning.

I like Reist's track, but I don't love it. It's late at night right now, so I'll listen in the morning and see if my opinion changes.

Tough fight. I will not vote.

Fair enough, but with only two songs (or, Heavens! sometimes as many as four!), and a week to vote, it shouldn't be too hard to get people to listen and vote.

Have you thought about maybe doing a poll (either to replace or supplement the poll here) on the Songfight forum?
